Module 1 — The Dog’s Brain

Your dog’s behavior is affected by much more than whether they “know a command.” Emotion, stress, excitement, environment, genetics, physical state, previous experiences, sensory information, and learning history can all affect what a dog is capable of doing. The purpose of this module is to help owners make better training decisions by learning to recognize what their dog’s brain and body are communicating. Understanding behavior does not mean allowing unsafe behavior; management and safety remain important.
